Massimo Vignelli ‘Metafora’ coffee table from the late 1970’s, made of glass and black marble with white veins. The Vignelli design uses four sculptural representations of Euclidean geometry: a cube, a cylinder, a sphere and a pyramid as bases for a glass table top. The four shapes are not fixed and can be repositioned freely, meaning their configuration is up to the user, and is never entirely final. Massimo Vignelli was an Italian designer who worked in a number of areas ranging from package design to houseware, furniture and showroom design. He was the co-founder of Vignelli Associates with his wife, Lella.
